Dr Caroline Brock Steps into Head of Clinical Assessments Role at Pears Cumbria School of Medicine
Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Caroline Brock as the new Head of Clinical Assessments at PCSM.
Dr Brock officially commenced her role on 10 June 2026 and will take on this senior academic leadership position alongside her ongoing clinical responsibilities at UHMBT, strengthening the important connection between graduate-entry medicine and frontline clinical practice.
Dr Brock is stepping into this senior academic leadership position with immediate pace and purpose, as medical students begin their first clinical assessments. These assessments allow students to put their knowledge into practice and build confidence from year one.
Ahead of the assessments, Dr Brock took the opportunity to speak directly with students to offer guidance and encouragement.
Dr Brock said: "I'm delighted to step into this role and offer any help, support and guidance I can give to the doctors of tomorrow training with Pears Cumbria School of Medicine and therefore improving healthcare across Cumbria. I'm looking forward to strengthening the link between our hospitals and the training the students receive - ensuring they are exposed to real life care in a health care environment."
Dr Brock brings experience in both clinical practice and medical education. Her dual role will ensure that the educational frameworks at PCSM remain closely aligned with the fast-evolving operational realities and clinical standards of the NHS. By splitting her time between academia and acute healthcare delivery at UHMBT, she is uniquely positioned to foster greater collaboration, as well as joint research and training opportunities between the two institutions.
