The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) is delighted to announce a generous gift from the Angela Pattman Scholarship Trust, administered by the Genesis Research Trust, founded by Lord Winston. This invaluable support will help overcome financial barriers, ensuring that aspiring and talented individuals have the opportunity to pursue a career in medicine.

The PCSM Research Hub promotes, supports and funds health research at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) and University of Cumbria, in partnership with Imperial College London and the North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust (NCIC). 

The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine team welcomed Dr Claire Fuller, GP and Primary Care Medical Director for NHS England. Dr Fuller, renowned for her work in primary care integration discussed with local primary care providers. Taking a major step forward in understanding the need for community-based education and healthcare provision in Cumbria.

A brand-new research hub launches as part of Pears Cumbria School of Medicine and the Institute of Health at University of Cumbria, led by Co-Directors Professors Jonathan Weber and Sophie Day which will be based at the Fusehill Street Campus. Jonathan and Sophie bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to Cumbria and the North West.

The new medical school, Pears Cumbria School of Medicine hosted a celebration event this month, officially marking the countdown to launching in August 2025. The event brought together guests from across healthcare, education and local government, all of whom have played a role in supporting the school become a reality.
